Hooray and So Long

Last night’s San Francisco lifestyle family photography was in Ghirardelli Square.

Why this location?

Wona and Doug got married here 10 years ago this September!  They have been living in this beautiful city for years and will be moving away, so they wanted an iconic San Francisco landmark for their backdrop.

PHOTOGRAPHY TIP

Choose a location that has meaning to you, not necessarily one that is the “prettiest”.  [You can read my full article about The Importance of Location.]

In this case, as an example, Wona and Doug chose the same location where they got married as their way of commemorating their anniversary.  They hoped it would be sunny and clear, so they could see the Golden Gate Bridge in the background of the photos.  Instead, we had a windy, cold day with dense low fog, so there was no view and it was cold.  What we thought would be “a pretty backdrop” (ie, the bridge) had to shift to what worked out for that day.

Our goal was to relax and have fun!  And we did.   🙂
