Best of 2011: Moments

Capturing a moment means the image wouldn’t have the same appeal it if was taken a second later or a second earlier.

It could also capture an emotion or the essence of a relationship.  Or tell a page of a story.

Below are the Best Moments of 2011, based on viewers’ votes in Facebook (as of today*).

If you’d like to cast your vote or wanted to see ALL of my favorite moments of 2011, go to my Facebook page!

*Votes can be added any time, so the Best Of images may change.  The voting process is open to all and with no deadline.  This is just a way for me to see what people liked!  For all those who participated, thank you!!!

Furry Face Harley

There is so much character in a face.

Not just from the distinctive features themselves, but also in the way one holds a glance or closes one’s mouth.

This is true for furry faces too.

This week’s I Heart Faces theme is “Furry Faces”.  (I love furry faces!!!)

As I was photographing these newborn twins…

One of the boys  s-s-s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d  his leg and stuck his foot right up in the air!

This week’s I Heart Faces theme is “On Your Feet”.

Do you hear it?!!

I do.

There are photographs that make you feel something when you look at them.  And there are some that make you hear something.

This little boy’s laughter as his dad catches him… it’s so loud!

This week’s I Heart Faces theme is “Bust A Gut”.

Review: Limited Edition BlackRapid RS-W1

STOP RIGHT THERE.  Yea, I mean you.  You’ll wanna hear this.

BlackRapid took my favorite single camera strap — the RS-W1 — and gave it a splash of color.  Now it is functional, comfortable AND fun!

What is BlackRapid going to think up next?!!

Last week, BlackRapid introduced their latest products:  The RS-W1 Colors.  These are limited edition straps, which means you shouldn’t wait too long to pick one up if you’re thinking about buying one.  Once they’re sold out, it’s hasta la vista, baby.

[If you aren’t familiar with these camera straps, read my latest post on the RS-W1 versus a split double strap.]

Limited Edition Colors

From left to right, the colors are:  Green Lake, Blue Ridge and Stone Way.

Sleek and Tough

The Limited Edition W1 Color straps have the same top quality materials as the regular RS-W1:  Stainless steel hardware, ballistic nylon.

Sexy Curves

Like the regular RS-W1 straps, these limited edition straps have the same sexy curves that are made for a woman’s body.

Let’s face it.  Most women want to be treated equally to men, but there are some things that make women different than men, like our bodies.

I am so grateful for companies, like BlackRapid, who have stepped up and embraced these differences by making products that are tailored for women.

On Real Women

Product Review Summary

My Overall Impression: “Niiiice!”

Evaluation of the Limited Edition colors: The colors are even cooler than I expected.  For the same reason why I like Metallic Paper for my prints, I dig the metallic-like sheen of these colors.

Final comments/Suggestions: I think it’s fantastic to offer the W1, a woman’s strap, in colors other than black.  What was a surprise to me was that the colors were all gender-neutral.  I would love to see some colors or patterns that are more feminine, like red and purple.  Maybe even a soft pink!  I can’t speak for all women, but sometimes, I enjoy being a girlie-girl.  🙂

[Pssst!  If you’d like one of these limited edition straps, I will be giving some away next week!]

Being little means having simple pleasures.

A plastic lid, a shoebox, a stick and tape are not ordinary things.  They are things that make noise, hold precious objects and start adventures.

This little cutie found a bench to be a fun ride!

This week’s I Heart Faces theme is:  Let Them Be Little.  It’s fun to see how other photographers interpreted this theme!

Driving Down a Bumpy Hill

This is one of my favorite editorial shots.  And it still cracks me up when I look at it!

There are 3 people in the shot, but no faces are showing.  They are the hands that tell the story.

[Photography Tip:  You don’t always need to show faces when shooting people.  When it is a body part that is doing something interesting, focus on that.  Decide if it’s better to tell the story zoomed into that body part or zoomed out to capture the scene.]

This week’s I Heart Faces challenge is “Raise Your Hands”.  Feel free to check out the other submissions.
