Greek Goddess and Twilight Shoot

A couple of my last shoots in 2013 were styled shoots, like the Swan Princess and the one of athlete Tammy Brawner.  Now I’m starting the new year off with another styled shoot!  Yippeeeeee.

If you follow me on my Facebook page, you’ve probably read that doing more styled shoots is my goal for 2014.

Styled shoots are collaborated between the photographer and the subject, which makes it all the more fun because you get to bounce ideas off each other.  With this shoot, the first theme was inspired by the head accessory I bought from a vintage store and the second theme was born from the hairstyle we decided on for the lovely Katy.

A Modern Twist of a Greek Goddess

An Edgy Twilight-Inspired Theme

I hope that you will meet your own photography (and personal) goals for 2014!

Really liked the draping of the gorgeous head piece, the draping oh her hair, and skirt. In the 2nd photo, her hand and arm placement is perfect for her–timid and look-at-me all at once. Really liked the Greek setting. Not so much the edgy one. Dress and expression all drooped so much–too much for me. Have a great 2014, Annie.

    • I always find it interesting to hear other people’s opinions about a group of images bec different people will be attracted to different things…for different reasons. Art has that effect on people. Thanks for chiming in, Sarah!

The focus of the shoot was the Greek theme and we spent most of our time on that one (about 45 mins). The part of the shoot with the red dress (it was actually my long skirt, but pulled up into a one piece dress and belted) took about 5 to 10 mins! It was right next to the parking lot, and it looked interesting, so we just went for it. The sun had just gone down, and it was getting dark. Once I saw that tree and lone bench, the Twilight/Vampire Diaries kind of theme came to me, so I processed the images so that the dress was more a blood-red.

Katy and I LOVE the red dress shots bec it was less planned and had the effect we wanted. Anyhow, it was for fun, and FUN WE HAD! 🙂

      Happy new year!
