You know that saying “Go big or go home?” Well we chose the first option for my last shoot of the decade! This lifestyle shoot involved stepping across a narrow cliff, climbing on rocks while holding a camera in each hand and in rain boots, and standing in a creek. Unlike my usual lifestyle session where I move around without much awareness of my environment (the reason I prefer to wear boots to my shoots!), I needed to be keenly aware of my surroundings! If I wasn’t, it co
So it’s wildfire season in California right now, which means rescheduled shoots because of bad air quality, planned and unplanned blackouts, horrific news of increased destruction, and smoky skies. The only positive in all of this is it’s a great reminder of what’s important in our lives, and that’s our health and spending time with our loved ones. Kim and Ashish know all about this, so I photographed their family having sun-soaked quality time together! We picked a locatio
Jeff and Louisa’s shoot this weekend with their 6-year old talkative charmer and 3-year old living doll (heehee) had all the feels. There was loud laughter, running and playing, a few tears, some fearful hesitation of bugs and grass, and lots and lots of joy. Or was it snacks? Lots and lots of snacks. 😉 My favorite things that happened were:
1. Jacob told me he “loves mommy and you”. That’s ME! Me! How adorable is that?!!
2. Little Kate gave me a long gentle hug to
Lawrence and I told the doctor not to reveal the gender of our third baby when I was pregnant… but I already knew it was a girl. Or maybe it was because I prayed and prayed and hoped for one. SO BAD. So when my third and last baby entered the World, and my doctor held her up and announced “It’s a girl” like what I’ve seen in movies my entire life, I cried. I cried the ugly cry, but no one, including myself, really cared at that point. I had a healthy, pink, perfect baby g
My photoshoot of Tim and Jen’s family was my last one of the year, and it made me contemplative. Perhaps it was because I had the spirit of Christmas coursing through my veins, but I was thinking how their photoshoot perfectly culminates the meaning of life. Let me explain. It had been about a year and a half since I last saw Tim and Jen. During that time, they got pregnant and had their 4th baby! Also during that time, there were big events around us, including deadly wil
Sometimes my shoots take me to far away lands, like in a dragon’s lair where we were engulfed by the hazy breath of these mystical creatures. We had to hide in crevices, climb up on boulders, and prepare to fight with long sticks. Kim and Ashish kept their family safe and warm, as usual, and thankfully didn’t encounter dragons… THIS time. Wishing you all great adventures – both real and imaginary. xo #RedwoodForest #EastBaylifestylechildrenphotography #bayarealifestylefamil
