Birthdays and Unbirthdays

Updated: Jul 28

This past Friday was Alan's 75th birthday (happy birthday, Alan!), so we had a photoshoot with his kids and grandkids who flew in from all over the country! ❤️

This had me thinking of some of my favorite contemplative quotes about birthdays that I have to share with you, and that made me ponder about the oddest thing: a scene from Alice in Wonderland. You read that right. So stay to the end, my friends, to see what brain-turned-to-jello sounds like from blogging after 2:30am. (This is the only quiet time to write because my kids are home during the Summer! If you know my kids, you'd understand. wink wink)

In the storybook, Alice in Wonderland, author Lewis Carroll writes during the Mad Hatter scene about celebrating your UNbirthday because that occurs 364 days of the year since your birthday occurs only 1 day of the year....

I say we adopt that concept!

So each day, have a laugh. Call a friend. Set a goal. Conquer a quest. Give thanks. Smile. Drive with the windows down.  Turn up the music. Enjoy the sun. Watch a squirrel.

Today is your UNbirthday. It is special. Nourish your body and pamper your soul.

And when it is your birthday, be like Alan and celebrate that too. 🙂
