It has been awhile since I've talked about the Power of Perspectives.
Let's look at this scene: parents sitting with their kids for a snack. There are many ways to shoot this, even though most see only one activity happening. Photographing this scene from different perspectives tells completely different stories.
You can shoot the scene straight-on. (Obvs!)
TIP: Just remember to get low, if your subjects are small or sitting on the ground.
You can focus on specific relationships. A loving glance, a small smile, or direct eye contact are all very touching to photograph!
TIP: Photograph each face at an angle to show their facial expressions.
Don't be shy to get up close and personal!
Look how cute this moment was when big brother was sharing his Goldfish cracker at the same time little brother was feeding mom!
If there is an interesting layout, get on top and shoot downward!
I grabbed this really quickly before anyone moved because I noticed how the boys were sitting and how the parents, with their cool shoes, were standing close by.
I liked the blue and green colors of the boys' shirts with the oppositely-coordinated baby bento boxes -- and all within semi-circles, which created fun visual interest.
This moment only lasted a few seconds since everyone was in motion, and I wanted to capture an artistic family detail without faces.
Basically, don't forget the different perspectives when you're shooting and have fun!
