Lyla’s Elevator

Lifestyle Photography in San Francisco reminds me of that one line in the movie, Forest Gump, where Forest says, “Life is like a box of chocolates.  You never know what you’re gonna get.”  Here’s why…

This morning’s family photography session was intended to be at The L Family’s home in downtown San Francisco.  We started there, but needed more light, so we migrated to the rooftop.  Yep, the rooftop.  All was beautiful and dandy, except that it was too cold for Lilah, who just turned one and was still recovering from a cold, so we needed to move back indoors.  Here’s the tricky part:  It was towards the end of their session and Lilah needed to nap, so we couldn’t venture too far.

Why not by the elevators?!!  🙂

It was a very unlikely place to shoot because it was a small, bare space with only a window, plant, and elevator doors.

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you won’t be surprised to hear that I LOVED this location!

I love finding beauty in unlikely places, and also finding unique ways to shoot.  So I was in a Photographer’s Heaven.  Ahhhhhh….

Lyla could walk really well, and with this new milestone, she would always look for me and walk over to me.

Often, she shared her beloved snacks with me, and would “talk” and smile.  I think I made a new friend today!  🙂

I know it looks like Lilah is trying to make a run for it, but I think she was just attracted to the shiny doors.  That’s what I tell myself anyway.  😉

Here’s Lilah with her favorite snacks.

I love this close-up where you can see even the tiny baby fuzz on her cheek, the bright bold color of her shirt, and the creamy bokeh.

Thank you, Edna and Dave, for inviting me into your home and allowing me to photograph your family at Lyla’s one year milestone!

Can’t wait to share the entire gallery with you — not just the ones by the elevator.  🙂
